Character Green Oak Beams
Green Oak simply means that the Oak is freshly cut, usually in the last 6 months. Freshly cut oak gives it a high moisture content which is favoured in construction projects over Season oak. Green Oak is much easier to work with over seasoned oak goes which can go hard over the drying period, making joining and fixing more difficult. Green oak has become very popular in the last 10 years, as it’s used in the construction of industry, as well as landscaping projects and applications.

Oak wood has a high density of about 0.75 g/cm3, which gives it great strength and hardness. As well as this, it is very resistant to fungal and insect attack because of its high tannin levels.
